My Size 7

IMG_0089It’s a common misconception that someone else can fill the shoes of another person. Every now and then you’ll run across someone who believes that they can “over throw” you and do a better job than you. Or maybe they just think they can replace you and duplicate what you produce. I see situations such as this a lot! Someone notices the work of another person and decides that they would like to try on the same shoes as the noticed person. The misconception is this, even though you may be able to fit the shoe, the work is wearing it- not putting it on! Which means that the shoe (position) isn’t the important part of the equation. The most important thing is the actual foot in the shoe! After all, the shoes are just the covering to make the “work” look good!

You should take confidence in your feet! Not in a boastful way, but from a self-motivated perspective. Think about it…you have your own characteristics and your own way of managing life in order to “fill your shoes.” Your arch isn’t the same, your toes are shaped different, your entire foot is completely different! Your endurance is amazing and your steps are unique! So even though you may wear the same size as someone else, you wear it better!

A common phrase is “until you’ve walked a mile in my shoes, don’t judge me.” This simply means that until you’ve experienced my experiences…until you’ve faced my challenges…and until you’ve encountered my hardships, please be careful when you address my struggle. At least try to find out why I am the way I am.

Please note that I am in no way promoting division or competition. However, I am promoting self-motivation. The difference between your size 7 and someone else’s size 7 is simply that! Yours is yours and theirs is theirs! You have to know that no one wears your size better than you. Feel confident in your role and wear your size with pride! You wear it well! Matter of fact, you wear it best! You make it look easy! You make it look comfortable! And while we all know, some people wouldn’t last one day in your shoes, it’s somewhat consoling to know that you’re being noticed. Smile! So whether I’m in heels or tennis shoes, the fact still remains that no one can fill my shoes better than me!
